Jobs for the orphans of Angkor (Cambodia)

Royal Angkor Foundation, Hungary (RAF) has been in close cooperation with the Khmer Angkor Development Organization, Cambodia (KADO) that operates an orphanage at the world heritage site of Angkor.

Within the framework of the project “Jobs for the orphans of Angkor!” RAF intents to provide training in five modules: English, organization development, textile design, informatics and tourism & sustainability. Target groups are senior orphans (age 16-25), their teachers and, young local unemployed.

Our purpose is educating them to ensure the possibility of reintegration for the local disadvantaged and socially peripheral strata - while creating a self-sustaining system, in which the provided knowledge - in addition to conveying democratic values - facilitates the living and furthermore, the preservation of local environment. Our project will essentially contribute to the income producing capacity of the local economy.

Project duration is from October 2006 until November 2007.
